Hey there. Thank you for stopping by my photoblog.
I’m Michael R. Bailey, a multimedia artist, and an Ocular Documentarian. I’m thrilled to be able to share a little bit about myself, my artistic philosophy, and my visual musings with you.
Most of my work involves photojournalism for the news industry and serving as a visual director for marketing campaigns. However, photography is not just a job to me, it’s my passion. I don’t simply capture images for news stories and marketing campaigns, I capture life itself. Every time I press the shutter, I am preserving a moment in time for eternity.

I view photography as a medium that allows me to not only observe the world, but to also capture the essence of the subject before me. That’s why I developed my personal philosophy or “Eyediology.” It encompasses my unique approach to photography that utilizes my ‘Revolutionary Eye’ to capture a range of elements, including the mood, action, profile, perspective, and the scene setting shot. I call this methodology ‘Shot M.A.P.P.S.’ and it’s a guiding principle that has served me throughout my career.
When I’m not working on commercial or news projects, I like to explore the more artistic side of photography through my Visual Narrative Project, Native Eye. Through this project, I’m able to capture the people, places, and things that inspire me in my home state of South Carolina.

My mission as a photographer is to inspire others to see the world through a “Revolutionary Eye.” I believe that by envisioning the world as it could be, rather than as it is, we have the power to make positive change. As an artist, I know that imagination has the power to determine our destination. If we embrace childlike imagination without fear, then the future is a canvas of limitless possibilities.
Ultimately, I want to accomplish with a camera what most revolutionaries accomplish with a gun.
