Freezing Time: The Art of Capturing Moments That Last Forever

The frozen branches and leaves of a tree after a snowstorm remind me of the power of photography. In both cases, a moment in time is frozen and preserved, leaving an indelible image that tells a story. Each branch and leaf is a unique and intricate detail, captured in time and preserved for us to marvel at. Similarly, a photograph captures a moment in time, freezing it for eternity and allowing us to appreciate the beauty and complexity of the world around us.

Photography speaks a universal language that does not need translation, and with an immediacy that the written word lacks. It freezes a moment in time, leaving an indelible image.

Just as the ice on the tree branches transforms them into a work of art, photography transforms ordinary moments into something extraordinary. It speaks a universal language that transcends cultural and language barriers, allowing us to connect with others on a deeper level. The immediacy of a photograph captures not only the visual beauty of a moment but also the emotions and feelings that are present in that moment. Like the frozen branches, a photograph can evoke a sense of wonder, tranquility, or even excitement, depending on the subject and the perspective of the photographer. It is this power to freeze a moment in time and leave an indelible image that makes photography such a remarkable art form.

I am a native son of South Carolina. Born and bred in a former confederate state, I inherited my people's struggle and that battle has shaped me into an advocate and activist for the unheard and unseen. With my words and camera as my only weapon, I share with the world the beauty, uniqueness, and humanity of all those who are underrepresented. I highlight and levy praise on our triumphs, contextualize our struggles and vocalize unachieved goals. With every image I capture, I show the world, unconsidered perspectives and the unspoken truths that deserve to be heard.
